I am the proud parent of two children with an autism spectrum disorder. When my son reached the age to start little league we knew the mainstream little league would be a challenge for him to navigate and that is when we found our local Challenger League. Aidan was apprehensive (to say the least) when he began and anxiety was a constant barrier. It didn’t take long before one very special coach and mentor took my little guy under his wing and there it was. An instant connection. Coach Kurt showed us that angels walk among us. He is forever patient, kind and a true role model for Aidan both on and off the field. Kurt volunteers his time to give Aidan and peers like him a chance at bat. Their time on the field together has given Aidan a sense of belonging, did wonders for his self esteem and showed him with kindness, support and compassion he can defy the odds. Thank you, Kurt, for being Aidan’s angel.
